AMC CEO throws eclectic book party

AMC Networks’ CEO Josh Sapan threw himself a book party Thursday night, inviting an eclectic group of friends to celebrate at his Central Park West apartment.

Sapan isn’t all about zombies and meth dealers. He’s also an avid collector of items from umbrellas to lightning rods to those giant group photos from early last century.

The relentless Renaissance man put together a collection of such pictures, called, logically enough, “The Big Picture,” co-written with critic Luc Sante.

Former car czar Steve Rattner penned a long caption for a photo in the book and took to the mic at the party to poke fun at himself for knowing little about cars, even though he was tapped to help President Obama fix Detroit.

Also attending were Robert Kahn, architect to the stars; Mediaite founder Dan Abrams; CNBC’s perenially grouchy Joe Kernen; and American Media’s David Pecker
