Winning guide to Super Bowl prop bets

Aside from the first two days of the NCAA Tournament, Super Bowl Sunday may be the most interesting betting day of the year.

When else can you bet on sports, news, music and weather, all in the span of a single television program?

So if picking the point spread and over/under aren’t enough to get you through the game, and you’re forever getting 5s and 9s in the box pool, here are plays that could pay.

Earn some ‘coin’

There are a number of ways to call the toss. Heads, tails, Broncos win, Seahawks win. All of those are 105 (bet $105 to win $100).

Some history here: Heads has won five in a row to take a 24-23 all-time lead. The AFC won the last two tosses after the NFC reeled off an inexplicable streak of 17 of 18 (on a 50-50 proposition). Predictions: Tails, Seahawks win toss.

National Trea$ure

America, the land of opportunity. You can make money by predicting how fast an opera singer will belt out “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The Over/Under for Renée Fleming is 2:30. This one’s easy. According to oddsshark.com, only one of the last eight anthems has gone over 2:10 (Alicia Keys’ 2:35 last year). Billy Joel got it done in 1:30 in Super Bowl XLI.

We surfed some opera message boards where fans of Ms. Fleming believe she’ll keep it simple and not hijack the song with unnecessary long notes. But the real key is she’s a diva, and divas don’t dig the cold (mid-to-upper 30s is still cold). In and out! Prediction: Under 2:30 (5-7 odds)

Another anthem-driven prop is whether Knowshon Moreno will cry during the rendition. You reap 4-1 odds if he does, and almost everyone cries at the opera. So let’s book that. Don’t see a prop for whether his gigantic tear will freeze before it rolls off his face.

Weather or not

Over/under on kickoff temperature is 34 degrees. Accuweather’s high for the day is up to 49. That leaves a lot of wiggle room before kickoff. Taking the over at even money.

Also, do not be tempted by the 25-1 odds the power will go out in MetLife Stadium during the game. After last year in New Orleans, no shot! And according to The Post’s Debbie Little, a local, the power grid is good as gold in East Rutherford.

On to the game …

You can get some double-digit odds in the first touchdown category, and the potential profits make it affordable to take some shots with both teams.

For the Broncos, Peyton Manning has always loved his tight ends in the red zone, all the way back to Dallas Clark in Indianapolis. So let’s go with Julian Thomas (8-1) who had 12 touchdowns this season, and Jacob Tamme, a real long shot at 25-1, but a longtime Manning security blanket.

For the Seahawks, like Russell Wilson (12-1) to run it in, and if those all fail, we’ll try to cover our losses with Marshawn Lynch (5-1).

Halftime

Which song will Bruno Mars sing first? Gotta go with his most current huge hit, Locked Out Of Heaven, the third favorite at 3-1. Good choice if he wants to keep those who have never heard of him interested.

Back to the game…

Cherry-picking some of the other action:

  • Over 3¹/₂ field goals (6-5) — good defenses and excellent kickers.
  • Largest lead under 13¹/₂ — close throughout.
  • Russell Wilson over 33¹/₂ yards rushing (115) — Broncos didn’t have to worry much about Philip Rivers or Tom Brady taking off, and may not be ready for it.
  • Going to pass on the Gatorade color prop. It should be moot if Denver wins because how could they possibly dump freezing liquid on John Fox after he had heart surgery?
  • For MVP, you’re wasting your money if you pick any Bronco other than Peyton Manning, and at 6-5, what’s the point? For the Seahawks to win, they’ll need the Beast at his best. Grabbing Lynch at 9-2.
