Carly steamed over Starbucks CD flop

Pop star Carly Simon has filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Starbucks, claiming the java giant failed to properly promote a CD that she cut for the company last year.

The singer-songwriter wants between $5 million and $10 million for alleged mishandling of the release of her 14-track disc, “This Kind of Love,” in April 2008.

Simon said in her California lawsuit that the CD wasn’t available in “a substantial number” of Starbucks stores during the key early months following “Love’s” release.

Starbucks lashed back at Simon yesterday, telling her to wake up and smell the “tepid response” from customers.

“Not only were agreed-upon marketing and promotional efforts carried out, the album was carried at Starbucks for an additional promotional period in two key markets,” the Seattle-based company said in a statement.
