Lost-corpse kin sue city

The family of a 16-year-old rape victim who lay dead in a Brooklyn city morgue for a month while they frantically searched for her is suing the medical examiner and NYPD.

The suit, made public yesterday, charges cops refused repeated requests by the family of Tiana Rice of The Bronx to search for her beginning Dec. 30, 2008, classifying her as a runaway, despite the fact that she’d called her mother, screaming, before the line went dead.

When cops did finally call it a missing-person case, they took until Feb. 3, 2009, to figure out that Tiana’s body was at the morgue under a different name — and had been there since the day she went missing, according to papers filed in Brooklyn Supreme Court.

Authorities later determined the girl was raped by someone she met on the Internet and succumbed to a deadly asthma attack during the assault.

The city Law Department declined to comment.
