SC Gov. Sanford disappears again

On your Mark, get set, go.

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford disappeared yet again, having fled the state without telling his constituents or lieutenant governor where he was headed, The State newspaper reported Tuesday.

His spokesman told the paper Sanford was on “personal time” and due back in the state capitol of Columbia later in the day.

The governor has law enforcement with him, said State Law Enforcement Division Director Reggie Lloyd, who refused to divulge Sanford’s location.

Sanford, a 49-year old Republican, set off a national manhunt last June when he disappeared without a trace for one week. It later emerged he had been having an affair with a woman in Argentina, a relationship that quickly felled his marriage and ended his chances at re-election.

He still vacations with the woman and traveled with her to the Florida Keys last month.

“This obsession with one’s personal life at some point has got to end,” he said last month.
