A judge today dismissed civil claims against five relatives of Osama bin Laden accused of helping fund the Sept. 11 terror attacks on grounds that they don’t have sufficient ties to New York to be sued here.
The five Saudi Arabians — whom the plaintiffs say are all brothers of the al Qaeda leader — were among dozens of defendants targeted by relatives of victims killed in the destruction of the World Trade Center.
Plaintiffs’ lawyer James Kreindler said the ruling by Manhattan federal Judge George Daniels would be appealed.
“The public perception is bin Laden is a black sheep who was expelled from the family, but we think that’s not true and that active support continued,” Kreindler said.
