Kellogg recalling Fruit Loops, Corn Pops over ‘off-flavor and smell’

Kellogg said Friday it is recalling some of its cereals because of “an uncharacteristic off-flavor and smell coming from the liner in the package” that could cause nausea and diarrhea.

Some 28 million U.S. products that have the letters “KN” before the expiration date are affected.

Cereal brands that fall under the recall include Corn Pops, Honey Smacks, Froot Loops and Apple Jacks.

The potential for serious health problems “is low,” the company said, according to Dow Jones Newswires.

The company is “working diligently to ensure that the affected products are rapidly removed from the marketplace,” said President and Chief Executive David Mackay.
