CHSAA boys basketball roundup: Loughlin remains hot

Jayvaughn Pinkston scored a game-high 22 points and Branden Frazier added 16 to lead Bishop Loughlin, the No. 3 team in The Post’s New York City boys basketball rankings, to a 69-49 win against All Hallows in the Lions CHSAA opener Tuesday afternoon in The Bronx.

Led by Omar Kellman (17 points) and Michael Alvarado (16 points), All Hallows (3-6, 0-3) trailed by just eight, 55-47, with four minutes remaining. But Loughlin (9-1, 1-0) closed the game out on a 14-2 run in what was a happy homecoming for first-year coach Ed Gonzalez, who attended All Hallows and coached the Gaels.

Christ the King 81, St. Francis Prep 69: Maurice Barrow had 22 points, Corey Edwards added 17 and Dominykas Milka had 15 for Christ the King (6-1, 2-0 Brooklyn/Queens) Tuesday night in Fresh Meadows. George Hatzioanides had 17 points and Khalid Straker added 14 for St. Francis Prep, which fell to 10-3 and 0-2 in the division.

Archbishop Molloy 66, Xaverian 60: Ernest Rouse scored a game-high 27 points and Steven Foertsch added 18 to lead Molloy (4-4, 1-0) in a Class AA Brooklyn/Queens clash Tuesday afternoon at Jack Curran Gymnasium. Justin Exum had 22 points for Xaverian, which fell to 3-3, 0-1 in the division.

Mount St. Michael 79, Regis 51: Peter Aguilar scored a game-high 30 points, including 20 in the first half, and Malik Gill added 15 to lead Mount (11-1, 4-0) in an A-North league game Tuesday afternoon in The Bronx. Rob Mohen had 16 points and Jamie Stark added 15 for Regis, which fell to 4-6, 1-3 in the division.

Monsignor McClancy 59, St. Edmund Prep 48: Patrick Modzelewski scored a game-high 20 points and Brandon Rivera added 12 to lead McClancy (5-6, 4-0 A-South) Tuesday afternoon in East Elmhurst. Vinny Marchiano had 12 points for St. Edmund Prep, which fell to 4-6 and 2-2 in A-South.

St. Peter’s 63, McKee/Staten Island Tech 60: Trevor Sykes had a game-high 22 points, Stefan Bock added 17 and Rob Horai had 11 for St. Peter’s (9-2), which shocked host MSIT Tuesday night. The Sea Gulls, which fell to 12-4, were led by Pucky Manley, who had 16 points, while Javon Cox had 15 points and Atigi Moore added 12.

St. Joseph by the Sea 67, Moore Catholic 53: Ed Connelly had 16 points, Joe Lane added 13 and Anthony Cipriano had 11 for St. Joseph by the Sea, which broke the game open with a 30-point fourth quarter Tuesday night in Huguenot. John Baggs had 12 points and Keith Miguel added 11 for Moore, which fell to 3-8.

Monsignor Farrell 53, New Dorp 46: Anthony Keane had 14 points, Joe Busacca had eight and Tom Delahanty and Matt Geib scored seven points apiece to lead Farrell (4-8) Tuesday night at New Dorp. The Central Cougars, which fell to 3-8, were led by Aaron Morton’s game-high 17 points.
