Sharon Stone turns good cop on ‘SVU’

NBC has snagged Sharon Stone (left) for a four-episode arc on “Law & Order: SVU.”

Details are still sketchy, but Stone will play a former cop-turned-prosecutor in the episodes, scheduled to air later this year.

“It is obviously a thrill and a delight to have a star of Sharon’s wattage and importance joining ‘SVU,’ ” show creator/executive producer Dick Wolf said in a statement.

While Stone made her mark on the big screen (“Basic Instinct,” “Casino,” “Total Recall”) she’s certainly no stranger to TV, having snared an Emmy for her guest-starring role in ABC’s “The Practice.”

She’s also appeared in HBO’s “If These Walls Could Talk 2,” NBC’s “Will & Grace” and the miniseries “War and Remembrance.”

Stone was nominated for an Oscar — and won a Golden Globe — for her role in “Casino” opposite Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci.

“SVU,” now in its 11th season, stars Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni as Dets. Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler.
