ID thief a killer: feds

A Brooklyn man who was part of a husband-wife ID-theft ring was charged yesterday with murdering two of their victims — a Russian court translator and a man whose dismembered body was found in a New Jersey park.

Dmitriy Yakovlev, 42, has been suspected in the disappearance of Irina Malezhik, a Manhattan federal court translator, since the couple allegedly deposited checks drawn from the victim’s account on the day she disappeared.

His wife, Julia Yakovlev, 36, was not charged in the murders, but was accused of withdrawing more than $40,000 from the account and buying $16,200 in watches on the missing Brooklyn woman’s credit cards. Malezhik’s body has never been found.

The Brooklyn federal court indictment also charges Dmitriy with the murder of Viktor Alekseyev, who vanished in December 2005.

His partial remains were found in New Jersey in January 2006.
