Swedish do-over in bid to bust Assange

A legal roadblock was cleared yesterday in efforts to arrest the WikiLeaker.

Julian Assange remained in hiding in England as Swedish authorities announced they had issued a fresh arrest warrant for the WikiLeaks founder to question him about two sexual-assault allegations.

The revised Interpol warrant could allow British authorities to extradite Assange back to Sweden.

An original warrant couldn’t be executed because it didn’t include the penalties for all of the alleged crimes, including rape and sexual molestation, that Swedish prosecutors want to talk about with Assange, British media reported.

Assange’s attorney in Britain, Mark Stephens, called the sexual encounters consensual, although there was dispute over using protection.

Stephens said the two women had filed their complaints out of jealousy when they learned both had slept with the lanky lothario.

He said British and Swedish authorities know exactly where Assange, who hasn’t made a public appearance since Nov. 4, is staying.
