ROCK PICK

BLONDIE ROOTS: Blondie didn’t earn its reputation as one of the greatest punk/pop band of New York’s New Wave era in the early ’70s with three chords and a pretty frontwoman – this was a group that understood how to write songs with great rock hooks and lyrics that were sexy, seductive and smart. This is still the case, 30 years later, as the original band – featuring Deborah Harry – proved on this year’s release, titled “The Curse of Blondie.” When the band plays the Westbury Music Fair Thursday, expect to hear plenty from this excellent disc, as well as many of the band’s greatest hits, such as “Call Me,” “The Tide Is High” and “Rapture.” Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets are $50 and are available at Westbury Music Fair’s box office, (516) 334-0800 or from Ticketmaster, (212) 307-7171.
