Four die in Thanksgiving-eve crashes

The Thanksgiving-eve rush hour turned tragic as four people, including two women trying to cross a street on Staten Island, were killed in traffic accidents.

Marion Anderson, 47, and Lizette Sorrano, 59, were both walking across Forest Hill Road in Willowbrook when they were struck by a Honda Odyssey at around 5:30 p.m., cops said.

They were rushed to Staten Island University North Hospital, where they later died.

The driver remained on the scene and police said the investigation is ongoing.

Earlier, cyclist Pedro Lopez, 54, was struck by a motorist in a white commercial truck at Borden and Maurice avenues in Maspeth. The driver fled the scene at 4:54 p.m. Police were searching for the vehicle Wednesday night.

Minutes later on the Lower East Side, a huge Con Ed utility truck slammed into an 88-year-old woman at 16th Street and Avenue C at about 5:15 p.m., according to ¬police.

“The driver of the truck got out and he went into panic mode,” said witness Ed Ahmed, 27. “There was blood all over the intersection.”

The elderly woman, whose name was not immediately released, was wedged for a short time beneath the vehicle, cops said.

She was soon rushed to Bellevue Hospital Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Con Ed spokesman Sidney Alvarez said two employees were also taken to the hospital for injuries in the accident.

In a fourth accident, an ambulance in Brooklyn was summoned to the scene of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at Avenue S and East 15th Street in Homecrest.

The victim, whose condition was not immediately known, was transported to a hospital at about 6 p.m.
