NO SUPER ENDING FOR PATRIOTS’ MOSS

GLENDALE, Ariz. – Randy Moss caught the fourth quarter, 6-yard touchdown pass that Tom Brady always throws, and he was 2:42 away from his first Super Bowl championship.

“It was just a simple fade, I really thought that play really gave us the momentum to take us up,” he said. “But on their side of the ball, offense and defense, they had the intensity for four quarters, so that is really what hurt.

“We had a game plan as a whole unit, and we just did not execute it. It kind of surprised me, just in the fact that all of the work that we put in for the last weeks.

The offensive line did not protect Tom Brady, whose mobility may have been slightly limited by a right ankle sprain suffered against San Diego in the AFC championship game. The Pats ran for 2.8 yards per 45 rushing plays. Moss had one catch in the first half and 5 catches for 62 yards for the game.

“We don’t point fingers,” Moss said. “We win as a team, we lose as a team. The only thing we can do is bounce back.

“Yeah, it does hurt, but at the same time the good thing about it is that we can come back and try to bounce back next year. But we have a long wait till next year. That is the bad thing about it.

“It hurts because it is the Super Bowl. It’s the last game of the season,” Moss said. “We were on the verge of doing something really special. But it happens. We didn’t expect it to. They expected it to and they won it.

“The Giants just had a better game plan. They played heads up football. They came ready to play for four quarters.”
