Parade ratings hit 11-year high

The “Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade” on NBC hit its best ratings in 11 years on Thursday, averaging a 13.5 rating in the metered markets.

That’s up 11 percent from last year’s parade coverage and marked the parade’s highest overnight rating in Nielsen’s local markets since 2002.

The telecast (9 a.m. to noon) was hosted by “Today” anchors Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker. It also averaged a 7.2 rating in the key adults 18-49 demo — up 9 percent compared to 2012.

Following the parade telecast, NBC’s coverage of “The National Dog Show Presented by Purina” grew 13 percent to a 6.0 metered-market household rating and drew a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demo, up 12 percent.
