Charges dropped against ex-NY Giants lineman Luke Petitgout

Charges were dismissed Tuesday in Manhattan Criminal Court against former New York Giants offensive tackle man Luke Petitgout for allegedly assaulting his wife last August.

“This was a case that never should have been brought,” said Petitgout’s lawyer Dennis Ring who stood before Judge Joanne Quinones as she waived Petitgout’s appearance. “They had no issues prior to this and no issues since.”

The hulking 310-pound lineman, 37, was accused of smashing his wife Jennifer in the head with her purse then tossing her out of their car during a wedding anniversary celebration gone wrong.

The violent dispute allegedly erupted after his wife of 13 years accused him of cheating after a booze-fueled night in the Meat Packing District Aug. 2, police sources said.

Jennifer was treated at New York Downtown Hospital for bruising, swelling and cuts.

The 36-year-old mother reported the incident to police telling cops she feared for her life, a source said.

After the volatile jock turned himself in, he was charged with misdemeanor assault.

When reached by phone shortly after the melee, Jennifer brushed off the reports as “all false.”

She refused to cooperate with the investigation, authorities said.

The two tempestuous lovebirds are living together peacefully in their Woodcliff Lake N.J. home, Ring said.

“He’s happy to be with his family, his wife and three daughters,” he said.
