Hunt on for livery cab robber

Cops are on the lookout for an armed man wanted in connection with five livery cab robberies in Brooklyn.

The most recent was Dec. 6 when the robber was picked up by a livery service at Bedford Avenue and Empire Boulevard. The suspect requested to be taken to New York Avenue and Herkimer Street, but produced a knife and held it to the 69-year-old driver’s throat and demanded his money and cell phone.

The cab driver initially attempted to resist, but was cut on the finger by the suspect during the struggle. Cops say the suspect made off with the driver’s Samsung phone before fleeing.

And cops say the suspect has done this before.

According to police, the suspect’s first robbery was on July 2, when he entered a livery cab on the corner of East 79th Street and Farragut Road in Canarsie. Cops say he displayed a gun and demanded the driver’s belongings.

Three months later, a similar incident took place in Bedford-Stuyvesant, where on Oct. 6 the suspect allegedly held up another livery cab driver at knife-point and fled with the driver’s cell phone and cash.

The suspect attempted a similar knife-point robbery of a livery cab driver in Bushwick one day later, but the victim fought back and the suspect fled the scene.

One month later, the suspect robbed another livery cab driver at the same location of the July 2 incident, this time placing an unknown object against the 62-year-old victim’s throat and pushing the driver out of the car. The suspect fled with the cab, but police say the vehicle was recovered days later.

Cops have concluded that all of these recent livery cab robberies are connected, and are seeking the suspect for multiple robbery-related charges.
