Dad has ‘anger management issues’: Ireland Baldwin

Guess she’s not so “thoughtless” after all, Alec.

Hothead Alec Baldwin’s daughter came to his defense on Sunday as Ireland Baldwin said her dad, who once famously left her a voicemail calling her a “rude thoughtless pig,” is no bigot.

“My dad is far from a homophobe or a racist,” the leggy Ireland tweeted. “For someone who has battled with anger management issues, my dad has grown tremendously.”

The 18-year-old Baldwin, an aspiring model who is daughter to Alec and sultry actress Kim Basinger, defended her dad as pressure piled on about Baldwin’s beleaguered career.

“Sometimes we let our tempers get the best of us,” Ireland explained on Twitter. “Tempers are like wildfires. Something or someone can easily fuel the fire.”

Baldwin hinted at quitting showbiz altogether in a bitter screed on The Huffington Post over the weekend after he was suspended and drew heat for a homophobic rant against a Post reporter last Thursday in which he chased the shutterbug down the street a called him a C—s—king f-g.” Baldwin had just won a court battle that day, getting French-Canadian actress Genevieve Sabourin sent to prison for stalking him and wife, Hilaria.

“If quitting the television business, the movie business, the theatre, any component of entertainment, is necessary in order to bring safety and peace to my family, then that is an easy decision,” Baldwin wrote.

He admitted that his nascent cable show was on its last legs.

“Whether the show comes back at all is at issue right now,” he wrote, Tweeting his thanks to the production crew in a seeming farewell.

The actor, meanwhile, appeared to launch an all-out — if not tongue-in-cheek — apology tour as he returned home Sunday.

“Off to speak at a gathering of mostly gay men in the East Village,” Baldwin tweeted. “Then to San Fran Tuesday. Should be interesting.”

Later Sunday Baldwin removed that tweet and his tweets about his show.

The actor also got pushy with Post reporter Kevin Fasick, a former pro boxer, on Firday. Fasick challenged the boisterous Baldwin to a charity fight in the ring to benefit GLAAD.

The actor politely refused through a rep on Saturday and, when asked directly on Sunday why he turned down the challenge, he ducked the issue.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he told a Post reporter.
