VERNON CHIDED A LEWINSKY IN LOVE

Monica Lewinsky blushed and giggled when Vernon Jordan confronted her about President Clinton – scolding her, ”You’re in love with him,” the ex-intern told House prosecutors.

In her video deposition – to be aired in the Senate today – Lewinsky entertained senators by recounting how Jordan once gave her a fatherly lecture.

”Your problem is – and don’t deny it – you’re in love with him,” she quoted the president’s pal as saying.

When asked her response, Lewinsky demurred.

”I probably blushed or giggled or something,” she told a gaggle of senators, White House lawyers and her own lawyers gathered for the deposition at the Mayflower Hotel.

The deposition – the 23rd time she’s been questioned under oath since the sex scandal broke – contains no new bombshells.

Lewinsky tells House prosecutors Clinton never told her to lie, for instance.

She denies he ever asked her to return his gifts.

The former intern also makes it clear it was her own idea to conceal her illicit affair with the president.

But the deposition is filled with provocative detail.

For instance, Lewinsky recounted Clinton’s comment when he told her she would be called to testify in the Paula Jones lawsuit.

”He said it broke his heart … that my name was on the witness list,” she said.

She then paused, asking House prosecutors, ”Can I take a break, please? I’m sorry.”

Also in her deposition, Lewinsky acknowledged that she still harbors ”mixed feelings” for the president.

That response prompted a brisk, humorous exchange between Lewinsky and House prosecutor Ed Bryant.

”I think what you need to know is that my grand-jury testimony is truthful irrespective of whatever those mixed feelings are in my testimony today,” she told the Tennesee Republican, sounding as lawyerly as her inquisitors.

Bryant pressed further: ”Do you still, uh, respect the president, still admire the president?” he asked.

”Yes,” she said.

”Do you still appreciate what he is doing for this country as the president?”

”Yes,” she said, not yielding an inch further.

At another point, Bryant asked: ”I assume you think he’s a very intelligent man?”

Lewinsky’s answer prompted the crowd in the hotel’s Presidential Suite to erupt into laughter: ”I think he’s an intelligent president.”
