Jimmy Fallon returns to ‘SNL’ as host

NBC is pumping up the promotional machine around Jimmy Fallon as he prepares to take over “The Tonight Show” on Feb. 17.

The “Late Night” comedian is returning to Studio 8H to host “Saturday Night Live” on Dec. 21, the network announced Thursday.

For his second turn as host, Fallon will be joined by musical guest and frequent “Late Night” collaborator Justin Timberlake (in his fifth appearance).

Fallon of course cut his teeth as an “SNL” cast member from 1998 to 2004, where he co-hosted “Weekend Update” with Tina Fey. He earned an Emmy for his last “SNL” guest-hosting turn in 2011.

Timberlake is currently touring in support of his latest album “The 20/20 Experience – The Complete Experience” and will co-star in the upcoming Coen Brothers film “Inside Llewyn Davis.”

Other upcoming “SNL” hosts are “Anchorman 2” star Paul Rudd with musical guest One Direction on Dec. 7 and John Goodman/Kings of Leon on Dec. 14.
