It’s the 2014 resolution list no one wants to read, but it is more common than ever before if results from a dating website are believed.
1. Get fit
2. Travel
3. Cheat on your partner
Ashley Madison, a dating site for married people looking for an affair, reported a record day on New Year’s Day.
On Friday the site had 27,511 married Americans logging on to find love of the cheating type – a rate of three per second.
It seems the midnight smooch with the woman in their life wasn’t enough for some men – a disturbing 16,507 joined the site in the first day of 2014. Women weren’t far behind with 11,004 creating profiles for the first time.
Dating sites generally see a spike in new users around the holiday time, but Ashley Madison saw an increase of 344 percent more than a typical day.
Founder of the controversial website, Noel Biderman, told The Huffington Post he wasn’t shocked by the steep rise in users.
“Many people re-examine their lives and changes they want to make on special occasions and holidays, particularly the start of the new year,” he said. “If expectations aren’t met on a night like New Year’s Eve, that can signify the last straw for a lot of couples.”
Let’s hope you had enough fireworks in your relationship on New Year’s Eve.
