Tourist assault thug convicted, but remains at large

A thug convicted of gang assault for using an arsenal of weapons to bludgeon a tourist in the West Village last year was sentenced to 20 years-to-life in prison Thursday – even though he remains at large.

Hatem Farsakh, 24, jumped bail during a pretrial hearing in October and was last spotted entering customs in Oslo, Norway.

Farsakh was one of three defendants found guilty of battering a group of Massachusetts tourists on MacDougal Street on Jan. 13.

The goons were accused of brutally beating Kevin McCarron with a parking club, tire iron and bat into unconsciousness in the early morning hours.

The vicious beating left McCarron, 24, of Andover, Mass., with a fractured skull.

He still suffers from permanent brain damage, he testified at the Manhattan Supreme Court trial.

Farsakh was convicted of seven felonies including a top charge of gang assault.

A jury found Mahmoud Habib not guilty as he was the only defendant who wasn’t captured on video surveillance throwing a punch or swinging a weapon.

Sherif Rizk was found guilty of felony assault charges and faces at least two years in prison.

They all dodged the top charge of attempted murder.

Farsakh told police the fight began when a member of McCarron’s group used a racial slur aimed at their Arab background.
