School officials say a Long Island junior high school student has been suspended after he brought a bullet to school to show to his friends and accidentally dropped it.
The student was suspended from West Babylon Junior High School on Thursday. That’s two days after a janitor there found a 9 mm bullet in a stairwell.
Authorities ordered a staggered dismissal of the school Tuesday. No injuries or incidents were reported.
The school was closed Wednesday because of the snowstorm. A police officer was sent to the school Thursday as a precaution.
School district officials said later Thursday they have identified the student who brought the bullet to school.
The student was suspended pending the outcome of a hearing.
