Bengals’ Jones jaws with Jets before TD

CINCINNATI – Bengals cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones put the final dagger in the Jets on Sunday with his 60-yard interception return for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter, but moments earlier Jones had been jawing with the Jets sideline.

Jones was upset with how Jets wide receiver David Nelson was blocking him. He felt Nelson was cutting his legs and was playing dirty, he told the Bengals’ team website.

On the final play of the third quarter, Nelson hit Jones late in the play away from the ball when Jones was not looking. Nelson was penalized for unnecessary roughness and Jones had to be restrained by teammates from going after Nelson.

Jones began yelling at the Jets sideline and he said coach Rex Ryan responded.

“He told me to shut the hell up. It was something like 35-6,” said Jones. “(Nelson) was playing dirty. He cut me like four times after the play. Thank God I took my medicine today, I guess, and I didn’t go off. Hopefully he’ll get fined. At least three fines. There were three real cheap shots after the play.”

Nelson was flagged for unnecessary roughness at the end of the third quarter for a late hit.
