SAMARITAN PUMMELED IN VILLAGE

A young man was beaten unconscious in Greenwich Village yesterday while saving a woman from two thugs who were harassing her, police sources said.

Andrew Mindnich, 23, a financial associate from Morristown, NJ, was at West 4th and Jones streets headed to the PATH station at 12:30 a.m. after a night out with friends. Suddenly, he encountered Christopher Dadd, 28, and Andre Tarver, 22, bothering a woman, whom Mindnich did not know, on the sidewalk.

“I heard her saying, ‘Leave me alone.’ I said, ‘What’s going on?’ It was a spur-of-the-moment thing,” Mindnich told The Post.

The assailants then attacked Mindnich, punching, kicking and stomping him in the head and chest, police sources said.

Responding officers nabbed the suspects on assault charges. The woman had apparently fled by then.

Mindnich was released after treatment for cuts and bruises.
