SEAT AL – CHUCK

Sen. Charles Schumer, who heads the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, says Al Franken should be seated in the Senate when it convenes tomorrow.

In a statement yesterday, Schumer said it’s clear Franken has won the election for Minnesota’s Senate seat. He claimed GOP incumbent Norm Coleman can’t get enough votes to win, even if claims of double-counted ballots are resolved.

“With the Senate set to begin meeting [tomorrow] to address the important issues facing the nation, it is crucial that Minnesota’s seat not remain empty,” Schumer said.

State officials said Franken’s victory will be certified today unless a court intervenes.
