TEDISCO FOR THE 20TH

Voters in New York’s 20th congres sional district go to the polls Tuesday to select a replacement for former Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand, elevated to the Senate by Gov. Paterson.

The Post urges the election of state Assembly Minority Leader James Tedisco (R-Schenectady).

Democrat Scott Murphy, a newcomer to elective politics, has said little in this campaign to suggest that he’d be much more than a rubber stamp for the high-spending agenda of President Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Tedisco is a far better fit for the largely conservative district, which runs along the Hudson River-Lake Champlain valley from Poughkeepsie to the Canadian border.

In his 27 years in the Assembly, he’s shown an appreciation for fiscal restraint and tax relief — something needed in Washington now more than ever.

Murphy opposes the death penalty, even for the 9/11 terrorists, sounding like he’d prefer to fight the War on Terror with lawyers. That mindset is most definitely not needed in Washington.

Again, The Post endorses Jim Tedisco for Congress in Tuesday’s special election in New York’s 20th district.
