CITY & NASSAU IN CAB-SHARE DEAL

The taxi border wars are over.

For the first time, black cars based in the Big Apple are allowed to take passengers in either direction between Nassau County and the city, the Taxi and Limousine Commission said yesterday.

Also, cabs based in Nassau can pick up passengers within the city as long as they take the rider back to the suburbs.

Previously, drivers from each jurisdiction could face stiff fines or have their cars seized if they crossed the boundary.

The only requirement of the new policy is that the pickup spots are pre-arranged — you still can’t hail a Long Island cab in New York City.

Nassau cabs can also pick up passengers at city airports, as long as they’re headed to Long Island.

TLC Commissioner Matthew Daus said the agreement can help the black-car industry weather tough financial times.
