BILL SIDESTEPS GRILL OVER HILL

Bill Clinton yesterday dodged questions about his wife’s now-infamous outburst when she was asked a question about his views during an official mission in Africa.

He told reporters in Harlem simply, “She’s had an amazing trip.”

The press initially had been physically blocked by Bill’s aides, who insisted he wasn’t taking questions.

But reporters were able to shout queries at the former president about Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s tirade at a Congolese student who asked what Bill thought of an international matter.

“She went to Goma, one of the most [horrible] symbols of global suffering. She went to Angola, tried to re-establish a relationship there that began when I recognized them when I was president,” he said.

“America should be grateful for this. That’s what I think.”

The former president added, “She’s had an amazing trip.”

He also joked that he wished she were home. “What am I, chopped liver?” he said.

When asked what he thought of the video of his wife’s finger-jabbing fury that’s been all over the Web, Clinton replied, “I haven’t seen it,” before ducking into another room of the building where he has his post-presidential office.

He then walked up West 124th Street, shaking hands with well-wishers.

Hillary shocked and bewildered the political world when she let fly publicly on a question about her limelight-grabbing husband, who won accolades for helping secure the release last week of two captive US journalists from North Korea.

“My husband is not the secretary of state, I am,” she said angrily at the event Monday.

Meanwhile, a Rasmussen poll showed the former president gets slightly higher favorability marks than his wife, with 58 percent viewing him positively, compared to her 53 percent.
