Lux heli service shuts down

A helicopter company that shuttled jet-setters from Manhattan to two major airports abruptly suspended service Friday.

U.S. Helicopter says on its Web site that it expects the shutdown to be temporary.

Company vice president Donal McSullivan tells the New York Times that the outfit is rounding up new financing and “getting our act together.”

The 3½-year-old company charged $159 for quick flights to Kennedy International and Newark Liberty International. That’s about four times as much as a cab ride to JFK, but the flight took just eight minutes.

It operated from heliports near Wall Street and on Manhattan’s West Side.
