Church ‘mayor culpa’

Sanctuary!

A sheepish Mayor Bloomberg — snowed under by an avalanche of criticism for the city’s inept post-Christmas blizzard response — sought “refuge” yesterday at a Harlem church.

“Well, everyone, 2010 didn’t end the way I would have wanted it,” the mayor told the congregation at the packed Abyssinian Baptist Church on West 138th Street.

“You could say I’m taking refuge in this church.”

Buoyed by applause, Bloomberg ‘fessed up to a less-than-stellar response by his administration to the snow removal.

“Our administration’s job is to do an excellent job — not an adequate job,” he said.

Bloomberg said he’ll spend the rest of the week “trying to find out what happened and why.”

And the mayor predicted the response to the next storm:

“You can bet that every single reporter will be out there watching every single street and plow.”
