JFK push coming to shove

Tempers erupted at the city’s airports yesterday as angry passengers shoved and yelled at airline employees over travel plans interrupted by the snowstorm.

About 100 people stranded several days by Qatar Airways shouted at a Kennedy Airport ticket agent trying to persuade them to board a bus to Washington, where two jets were set to fly.

Security guards pushed them away, said witness Farhan Naqvi, who has been trying to get his aunt on a flight to Pakistan. “Think about these people. They’ve been here for three days,” he said.

Queens-based JetBlue abandoned thousands of angry travelers, canceling 120 flights yesterday.

The airline blamed prior days’ woes and whined that “only” two runways were open at Kennedy — though that’s often how Kennedy operates.

Kennedy traffic was normal yesterday afternoon, at about 80 flights an hour.

JetBlue canceled all its Kennedy flights Tuesday evening, with spokeswoman Alison Croyle stating that the airport was closed “after 6 p.m. That was for all airlines.”

Actually, Kennedy was open, Port Authority and FAA officials said — with reduced operations.

Bad weather hammered JetBlue in a 2007 snowstorm, when it stranded passengers on a jet on the JFK tarmac for 10 hours.
