The “Dancing With the Stars” universe includes ac tors, athletes and various other entertainers — but so far has ignored an entire galaxy of celebrities: authors.
In an effort to right this wrong, publishing blog GalleyCat has setup an online poll where readers can vote for the author they think is best suited for the show. Early in the voting process, “Must Love Dogs” author Claire Cook is in a commanding lead over fellow celeb scribes Kathy L. Patrick and David Sedaris.
Quick to respond to her potential spot on the show, Cook said via her blog, “Would I do it? Absolutely! Not just for me, but for all the other non-celebrity midlife women out there — because we’ve got a lot of living left to do! (And because I could get a really fun novel out of the experience!!).”
Voting for the poll ends tomorrow, at which point GalleyCat will start a Facebook page advocating for the winner — a tactic reminiscent of last year’s highly-popular and ultimately successful “Get Betty White to host SNL” campaign.
