Dispatches from the campaign trail

Even Carl Paladino’s dog is getting in on the campaign madness.

A “Duke Paladino” Twitter page has been tweeting updates, but it’s a safe bet the page isn’t being written by the GOP gubernatorial nominee’s staffers.

After Carl’s anti-gay rant, “Duke” tweeted, “Carl, man, wtf. even I told you not to go off on the gays. and I’m a dog.”

“Duke’s” last post came two days ago. “Hiding under the coffee table,” he tweeted.

The campaign did not respond to an e-mail requesting comment.

It wouldn’t be the first time Duke went off-message. He recently bit a yellow Labrador at a campaign stop.

It took Eliot Spitzer more than $4,000 to get some love from Ashley Dupre, but she’s giving it up for free for Andrew Cuomo.

The former escort — and roving New York Post columnist — said she’s backing the Democratic attorney general in his race against Paladino.

“I’m actually for Cuomo. I am. He seems like the right choice for New York,” Dupre told New York magazine’s Daily Intel.

She also said she wants to put her notoriety behind her, and is thinking of writing a book.

“I have a lot of regrets. At the end of the day, it’s made me who I am, and I’m content with myself. I’m OK,” she said. “But I want to help kids not make the same mistakes that I have — life-altering decisions and mistakes.”

You’ll probably have a better chance of seeing a music video on MTV than a Republican.

MTV, BET and CMT are giving an hour of free air time to President Obama a week before the midterm elections, but the cable network is adamant it’s not being unfair to the GOP.

“This is not a campaign appearance. This is a town-hall discussion,” a Viacom spokeswoman told the conservative news site Human Events.

When asked if the network had even given air time to Republicans, the spokeswoman said, “I know we hosted the one with John McCain . . . in 2007.”
