Singer Christina Aguilera files for divorce after nearly five years of marriage: report

Singer Christina Aguilera filed for divorce Thursday from her music executive husband Jordan Bratman, two days after she confirmed the pair had separated, TMZ reported.

In divorce papers filed in Los Angeles, Aguilera listed the couple’s separation date as September 11, 2010.

The couple met in 2002 and married in November 2005. Aguilera gave birth to their baby boy, Max Liron Bratman, in 2008.

Confirming that the couple had split, the Grammy Award-winning singer said in a statement Tuesday: “Although Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max remains as strong as ever.”

The divorce petition asks that “Earnings and accumulations of [Aguilera] before marriage, during marriage and from and after the date of separation” be considered separate property.

Aguilera, 29, began her music career as a child member of the Disney TV series “The Mickey Mouse Club” alongside Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.

She is starring in the upcoming musical movie “Burlesque,” due in theaters Nov. 24.
