Avengers assemble — on Park Avenue!
The Earth’s Mightiest Heroes descended on New York yesterday to shoot scenes for director Joss Whedon’s highly anticipated 2012 flick “The Avengers,” filming in Midtown and near the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park.
Most of the high-powered cast was decked out in superhero duds for this weekend’s shoot, including Scarlett Johansson, whose slinky, leather-clad Black Widow is pictured here striding away from a burned-out New York City yellow cab.
Johansson also raced into action with Chris Evans (Captain America) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye).
Other images show Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki) in costume, with Hemsworth wielding Thor’s hammer.
The movie will feature Robert Downey Jr. (as Iron Man and cool alter ego Tony Stark) and Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) chilling in an Acura sports car designed just for the movie, according to AutoBlog.com.
