Paterson launches radio days with prime-time gig

ALBANY — Move over, Rush Limbaugh — former Gov. David Paterson will hit the airwaves with his own radio talk show.

Paterson will be at Ben Benson’s Steakhouse on West 52nd Street today to announce his new gig on radio station WOR.

A source said Paterson’s prime-time morning show will cover politics and could venture into sports and other topics.

The source said Paterson, who is expected to continue teaching his “Art of Government” course at New York University, will work full-time and be well-compensated.

Legally blind, Paterson “grew up with radio,” said one of his former aides. Because of his visual impairment, he developed an “incredible memory and a great sense of [radio] timing.”

New York’s only African-American governor, Paterson often appeared as a guest on John Gambling WOR morning show, and has guest-hosted for Gambling since leaving office on Jan. 1 — including yesterday, when he spoke to Post columnist Michael Goodwin about President Obama, and to Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-NJ) about Hurricane Irene.

Paterson has also appeared on religious shows and WFAN sports radio.
