Three Jets to watch tonight vs. Eagles

Tonight’s game will feature mostly unfamiliar faces as the majority of the Jets’ starters will sit out. This gives the coaches a chance to evaluate the backups as they prepare to make the final roster cuts this weekend.

Here are three players to keep an eye on:

OLB AARON MAYBIN

The Bills castoff has had some good moments in the two preseason games he’s played for the Jets, notching a sack against the Bengals and chasing a ball carrier down from behind against the Giants. Still, coach Rex Ryan said Maybin is going to have show them more tonight if he’s going to make the team.

NT KENRICK ELLIS

The third-round pick played a lot against the Giants. He is having trouble keeping his pads low. Martin Tevaseu has passed him on the depth chart. He needs to show whether he can be a part of the team’s defensive line rotation.

RB BILAL POWELL

Another Jets rookie who has had a quiet camp. The fourth-rounder got into the end zone against the Giants, but he has not been that impressive. With Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson expected to be held out tonight, there should be plenty of carries for Powell. He needs to do something with them.
