Reese Witherspoon taken to the hospital after being hit by car while jogging

Reese Witherspoon was struck by a car while jogging in Santa Monica, Calif., tonight, police said.

The Oscar winner was jogging along Georgina Avenue when she was hit by a vehicle driven by an elderly woman on 20th Street. The car was traveling at 20mph when the accident occurred.

Santa Monica police said Witherspoon was running across an unmarked crosswalk about 11:15am local time when the 84-year-old driver failed to stop.

The woman cooperated with police and was later cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Witherspoon was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance, but her rep later told People magazine the 35-year-old was not seriously injured and was now “resting comfortably at home.”

Witherspoon, who won an Academy Award for her role in “Walk The Line,” wed Hollywood agent Jim Toth earlier this year.

She has two children with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, who she divorced in 2007.
