New NYPD house by memorial

Mayor Bloomberg yesterday said the more than 600 NYPD cops stationed at the new World Trade Center precinct will be headquartered at Tower 4 — directly across the street from the memorial.

Hizzoner said the under-construction 64-story building — which is already at the 40th floor — will house the new precinct and the Port Authority will also occupy space once it’s completed by the end of 2013.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg and top officials of the September 11 Memorial & Museum ratcheted up their effort yesterday to secure funds from Washington to help lower admission fees to the museum.

“The reality is we have to be able to pay for security and pay for development and pay the people who work there and that’s going to require some money,” the mayor said.

Museum officials disclosed earlier this year that they were thinking of charging $25 as a “suggested” donation or $20 as a mandatory fee to help cover operating costs estimated at $50 million to $60 million a year.
