Imitation of Christ

Wedding season and fashion season have now collided on the first day of Fashion Week. Imitation of Christ designer Tara Subkoff put on quite a show today at the W Union Square. Guests were offered champagne and cigars, while rose petals covered the runway that lead to a floral arch, where an actual priest — who was part of the show — waited.

The show started off with a flower girl, a groom and a large wedding party adorned in vintage inspired dresses. Lace was the theme of the day, with a rainbow of varying “tea” dresses in pastel and dusty colors adorned with flower and bird appliqué details. A few beaded dresses and even a blazer with beaded detailed sleeves might have stolen the show if it weren’t for the bride, Lydia Hearst, who wore a lace dress with an abstract corset-like piece that would make even Lady Gaga turn her head.
