Tenant sought after building super found stabbed

Cops are looking for a tenant in connection with the stabbing death of an apartment building superintendent in Upper Manhattan.

Police named Elvido Soriano, 62, a suspect in the killing of Hipolito Perez, 57, who was found dead in his basement apartment Sunday morning at 76 Vermilyea Avenue, near West 204th Street in Inwood.

Perez suffered a stab wound to the neck and another to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency crews responded to a 911 call for an unconscious man around 8:45 a.m.

Elvido SorianoSoriano lived in the basement as well and surveillance video captured him entering and leaving the apartment before the super’s lifeless body was discovered.

The suspect was wearing a gray hoodie, blue jeans, dark sneakers and a tan baseball cap. He is about 5-foot-10, 165 pounds with salt and pepper hair and freckles.

The super and tenant had been at odds for some time, although it wasn’t immediately clear what sparked the deadly dispute.
