MORE WORK FOR DIPIETRO

Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro, 19, will play for Team USA in the IIHF World Championship in Germany, The Post has learned.

Team USA has not officially announced its roster for the tournament, which will take place April 28-May 14 in Germany.

The No. 1 overall draft pick last June, DiPietro finished his rookie season with the Isles with a 3-15-1 record, a 3.49 goals-against average and a .878 save percentage.

DiPietro, who grew up just outside Boston in Winthrop, Mass., has said he hopes to be one of the three goalies on the U.S. Olympic team in Salt Lake City next February. The final Olympic team, which will be chosen without tryouts, will be announced on Dec. 22.

Meanwhile, Isles forward Brad Isbister is likely to play for Team Canada in the World Championship.
