In a statement read aloud inside St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Babylon by family friend Juan Mendez, Figoski’s four daughters wrote: “We now feel connected to a side of our dad we rarely saw at home. He always put us first.”

“I knew him 21 years. My entire career we worked side-by-side,” said Officer Brenda Ramos, who worked with Figoski at the 75th Precinct station house. “We’re all very saddened and hurt by this.”

Officer Brenda Ramos, who worked with Figoski at the 75th Precinct station house, said Figoski, a 22-year NYPD veteran, always “had a smile” on his face — no matter what was going on. “Always,” she said. “I’m sure he had bad days, but we never knew about those bad days. It’s not going to be the same [without him].”

Figoski’s ex-wife Pauline said, “I want to say how blessed we were to have four beautiful daughters. Within them they carry your wonderful vibrance, your sense of humor, your bravery, your courage and powerful strength. You have touched the lives of so many. God bless you, Peter. May you hold my father’s hand in heaven and watch over our children. I promise to do my best to take care of them always.”

Mayor Bloomberg, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and law enforcement officials from as far as Chicago and Baltimore showed up to remember Figoski. “Pete always had a smile on his face that reminded you in the toughest moments that all’s OK with the world — strong, dependable, solid as a rock, Pete had the knowledge and know-how that only came from years on the job,” the mayor said during his eulogy.

Figoski, a father of four daughters, was remembered as a dedicated dad and police officer. The hero cop’s distraught daughters sat in the front row, just feet from their dad’s coffin, while others remembered his bravery and dedication.

“Peter Figoski will be entering the gates of heaven today,” Father Brian Jordan, who works as an NYPD community liaison, told reporters outside the church. “One day, his four daughters will be reunited with Peter in heaven. They will be together and those Sunday spaghetti dinners will continue.”
