Accused West Village rapist demands to take back guilty plea

A young West Village rape victim came to court in Manhattan today to watch her attacker get a 20-year prison sentence — but left in tears when the proceeding was cancelled after the cowardly monster demanded to take back his guilty plea.

“Twenty years is too much,” whined career con Ivan Ramos, 23, of Brooklyn.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Laura Ward reluctantly granted Ramos a new court-appointed lawyer and set March 12 for her decision on Ramos’ claim that he hadn’t been adequately advised of the consequences of his January 9 plea.

The pretty, 30-year-old brunette had been set to make a sentencing statement against Ramos, describing the emotional impact of the brutal, Perry Street attack.

She had lost her wallet and was disoriented and alone after a night out drinking last April. Ramos told her he was the “neighborhood watchman” and offered to help her, but instead took her into a Perry Street stairwell and committed a violent rape that was captured in a 15-minute sidewalk surveillance tape.

Ramos was caught at the scene zipping his pants and with the victim’s Bank of America ATM card in his pocket.
