Fashion Week survival guide

Fashion Week is one of my favorite times of year, despite the 16-hour days, the constant stop-and-go (the mad dash from show to show, followed by the 30-minute wait for each show to start) and the intensity of trying to down a coffee, hail a cab and file copy for the next day’s paper — all at the same time.

Still, few moments are more exciting than when that first look hits the runway: models catwalking, glimpses of a new collection, the designer taking their final bow, innovative settings. What’s not to love about watching Marchesa gowns float through the halls of Grand Central Terminal, as happened during Fashion Week last fall? It’s all so inspiring.

Arming myself with my essentials — whether it’s my iPhone charger or my favorite Falke tights for those brutally cold days — has taught me the power of efficient dressing that can shift from day to night. With that, here are my others secrets on how I make it through Fashion Week!
