Nassau Democrats are demanding a state investigation into County Executive Ed Mangano, a Republican, claiming in an official complaint that he illegally solicited and spent campaign funds.
Nassau Democratic Chairman Jay Jacobs filed the complaint with the state Attorney General’s Office and the Board of Elections yesterday, saying there were allegedly violations in Mangano’s campaign-finance records, including $70,000 in improper corporate contributions from firms that do business with the county.
“All campaign contributions were properly reported,” Mangano spokesman Brian Nevin countered.
