Ravens LB dismisses deer spray report

NEW ORLEANS — You expect Media Day at the Super Bowl to endure its various and sundry hijackings — by “reporters” in clown suits, superhero capes, bikinis and all manner of loud outfits.

But deer-antler velvet extract spray?

Thanks to a report on SI.com yesterday that suggested Ray Lewis’ injured tricep might have gotten artificial help during his late-season recovery, that’s how the festival of excess played out.

The spray in question, IGF-1, is banned by the NFL, and according to the report is provided by Sports With Alternatives to Steroids. The report said Mitch Ross, the owner of SWATS, gave Lewis the spray in return for credit if and when he returned, which never took place.

“Two years ago that was the same report. I wouldn’t give that report or him any of my press,” Lewis said yesterday. “He’s not worthy of that. Next question.”
