College student slashed in neck during fight on crowded school bus in Brooklyn

A college student was slashed in the neck during a clash on a crowded school bus this morning in Brooklyn, authorities said.

Two students from Kingsborough Community College began arguing while waiting on Coney Island Avenue and Brighton Avenue for a bus to take them to their school about 10:45 a.m., according to a spokeswoman for the college.

Although it was not immediately clear what they were squabbling about, the driver said there were more than 500 people waiting for the bus—and some pushing when he opened the doors.

The argument grew more heated as the two students boarded the bus.

“They were going at each other, punching and shoving for about ten minutes,” said Maria Zubets, 23, who works nearby at T-Mobile. “There were students holding their phones filming it.”

One student slashed the other in the back of the bus.

“There was a lot of blood coming out,” said the driver, Max, who did not give his last name. “The kids didn’t know each other. After five minutes, there were about seventeen police officers here.”

The assailant fled from the scene, and police said no arrests have been made yet.

The victim was taken to Lutheran Hospital in stable condition and is expected to be released later today.
