An NYPD cop slapped the city with a lawsuit claiming that he was beaten up by a suspected thief who resisted arrest because his handheld radio had failed, according to the new Manhattan Supreme Court filing.
Rajinder Singh, 32, is suing for an unspecified amount. A spokeswoman for the city’s Law Department said, “We are awaiting a formal copy of the lawsuit.”
He charges the department with failing to test the equipment and provide proper backup during the arrest.
Singh underwent surgery for a tear in his right shoulder.
The Nassau County resident went on disability but is now back on the force.
